Microsoft's show at the Electronics Entertainment Expo (E3)

Attention all Halo fans! This is what you have been waiting for.

After nearly four years of absence, the Chief is coming back to Xbox 360. Not only will there be a HD remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved, the show ended with a big surprise as we saw a teaser of Halo 4, the first of a new trilogy due in 2012.

The conference started with a trailer of Modern Warfare 3 in which the player barely escaped a burning New York. This was followed by demos of Mass Effect 3 and Ghost Recon: Future Soldier both featuring kinect support.

Then Ice-T was brought on to show off a demo of the upcoming Gears of War 3, however it failed to get the crowd excited. What did get the crowd going was Kinect: Star Wars; well only for a few moments. The crowd lost interest as soon as the game started. Sluggish movement and repetitive arm slashes do get boring after a while.

Two big announcements were Fable: The Journey and Ryse, both set to be kinect exclusives.
Xbox live will have 10 new partners this year, one of them being Youtube. They announced Xbox Live TV using which you can watch all your favourite TV shows on your Xbox right when they are aired.

Kinect has alienated a lot of core Xbox gamers, but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t been successful.

Microsoft made sure it stays on top after they announced Disney as its newest partner. Kinect Disneyland Adventures and Sesame Street seem perfect for that section of the audience. Sequels for Kinect sports and Dance Central were also announced, both adding much needed depth to the originals.

This years press conference was a little disappointing. Apart from Halo 4 there was nothing we already didn’t know about, the trailer was amazing but it failed to save the conference. All the games we did know about failed to excite.

Ryse did look fun but its yet another Kinect game and not made for a hard-core gamer.

Microsoft is going all out to tap into its Kinect market, a good financial move, but it leaves hard core gamers a little disappointed.
