TRS seeks action on Lagadapati

June 20: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) has demanded that the state government slap a criminal case against the Congress MP, Mr Lagdapati Rajagopal, for creating fear among people living in Hyderabad about the bifurcation of the state.

“He is behaving like a man afflicted with rabies. The government should book a suo motu case on him for promoting hatred and creating fear in the minds of people in Hyderabad,” Mr Shravan, a TRS politburo member said. Meanwhile, after the success of the Vanta Varpu protest to demand a separate Telangana, the Telangana Joint Action Committee is planning more innovative but peaceful Hyderabad-centred campaigns.

Sources said the TJAC with the cooperation of the TRS, BJP and other affiliates, are seeking feedback from party leaders over holding more such campaigns. Besides the proposed mammoth second ‘million march’, the TJAC is also planning human chains, rallies and door-to-door campaigns, seeking the support of Hyderabadis for the Telangana cause.

The TJAC focus on Hyderabad stems from the scare created by Mr Rajagopal, that all will not be well in Hyderabad if the state is bifurcated. “The Vanta Varpu is only the beginning. More such programmes are being planned in Hyderabad city and other parts of Telangana to pressurise the Centre to carve out a separate state,” Prof. Kodandaram, convenor of the TJAC said.
