4 Desam T-MLAs beat Congress in quit game
July 3: Four rebel Telugu Desam MLAs submitted their resignations on Sunday for a separate Telangana state. The former minister, Mr Nagam Janardhan Reddy (Nagarkurnool), the former deputy speaker, Mr Koppula Hariswara Reddy (Parigi), the former Union minister of state, Mr S. Venugopalachary (Mudhole), and Mr Jogi Ramanna (Adilabad) signed their resignation letters prepared under Rule 186 of Assembly Rules and Procedure in front of party leaders and the public at Deekshi Sivir at Indira Park and sent to the Speaker's office. These are the first batch of resignations and more will quit on Monday. On Sunday, Mr Janardhan Reddy also started his two-day fast under the banner ‘Telangana Aikyata Deeksha’ demanding that a separate Telangana state be immediately carved out. The fast was inaugurated by the Telangana protagonist, Mr Konda Laxman Bapuji, and leaders from various parties visited the camp and extended their support to Mr Janardhan Reddy.
Criticising the TD chief, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, Mr Janardhan Reddy said that his two-path theory on Telangana won’t be sustained as there would be resentment within the party. He added that a separate state alone would be a fitting tribute to the students who had sacrificed their lives for the sake of Telangana.
