TD’s bus yatra upsets TJAC’s joint strike plan

Even before the dust over the resignations of the elected representatives settled, the parties have begun fighting for the political space in Telangana.

Developments on Thursday clearly indicated the strategies and counter strategies by the rival parties to capitalise on the resignations.

In the process, the political Joint Action Committee, which has already earned a pro-TRS tag, once again came under scanner.

The Telugu Desam was the first to take advantage of the current situation and kick-started its bus yatra on Thursday. The yatra will cover all the Telangana districts.

Sources in TD told this newspaper that the bus yatra had not gone down well with the political JAC leaders.

“The JAC suggested that we wait till a common agitation agenda was prepared,” said a senior TD leader who met JAC convener Prof. Kodandaram in the morning.

Apparently to pre-empt the TD, Prof. Kodandaram announced the postponement of all agitations including the proposed two-day rail roko from Friday on the pretext of bringing all parties on to a common platform and chalking out a future course of action under its banner.

Several elected representatives who have submitted their resignations, however, admitted that agitating under common a platform might not work for long.
