
Boys corner top 9 ranks inengineering entrance test
Boys cornered nine of the top 10 ranks in the State engineering entrance examination, the rank list of which was released by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) here on Sunday.The lone girl in the top 10 is Sonia V. Mathew from Kaimanam here; she scored the fifth rank. The first rank went to Dilip K. Kainikkara from Changanassery, the second to Jahfar Thattaruthodi from Malappuram, the third to V. Viswajith from Kochi, and the fourth to E.V. Sarath Krishnan from Kannur.
The first rank in the Scheduled Castes category went to K.S. Sumith from Chegannur and the second rank to S.S. Arun Krishna from Thiruvananthapuram.
In the Scheduled Tribes category, the first rank went to Georly George Daniel from Idukki and the second rank to Geethu Divakar from Wayanad.
The results have been published on the websites www.cee.kerala.gov.in and http://results.kerala.nic.in.
B.S. Mavoji, CEE, said that details of allotments to engineering seats would be announced later.
Of the 56,336 students on the rank list — prepared after the process of normalisation — 29,296 are boys. Of the 65,635 students who cleared the engineering entrance test, 33,653 are boys.
Of the 75,606 students from the Kerala Higher Secondary stream who wrote the examinations, 39,008 made it to the rank list with 447 making it to the top 1,000 ranks. From the Vocational Higher Secondary stream, only two students made it to the top 1,000 ranks.
Of the 1,660 students who wrote the examinations, 368 made it to the rank list. Of the 20,872 students from the AISSCE stream, 15,307 made it to the rank list with 499 figuring in the top 1,000 ranks.
From the ISCE stream, 46 students made it to the top 1,000 list.
Of the 11,568 students from this stream, 1,212 made it to the rank list. Of the 3,199 students from other examination boards, including foreign boards, only six made it to the top 1,000 list; 441 such students figure on the rank list.
