The Election Commission has issued a notice to Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister M.K. Stalin for his alleged derogatory remarks about AIADMK chief J. Jayalalithaa. The AIADMK had filed a complaint with the commission against Stalin after he was quoted as having said that Jayalalithaa had stopped giving marriage assistance to women as she was herself unmarried. "Jayalalithaa herself was not married and so she is not interested in funding other women's weddings," Stalin allegedly said. The AIADMK said Stalin's remark were "malicious and beyond all limits of decency". In its complaint, the AIADMK said that Stalin made the speech with an ulterior motive to influence voters in the assembly elections.
